| ENGINEERING |
|
 |
With experience in all aspects of substation engineering and design work, PTS can ensure that our clients receive exactly what is required no matter how onerous the specifications are. Whether the requirements include input from the beginning of a project with the production of a feasibility study, delivery of a detailed design package for construction or a complete start to finish design such that project approval can be sought, PTS have necessary expertise to deliver.
This expertise is available both for the Primary plant aspects of a substation and the Secondary protection requirements; from initial plant layout concept designs and protection application studies through to fully detailed installation details, protection schemes and diagrams, and multi-core cable termination details. All of this can be delivered by PTS in-house expertise as well as coordinating civil requirements with the civil designer. |

With a wealth of experience in the team, PTS have fully qualified mechanical and electrical fitters along with panel wiremen to be able to build and install all aspects of a substation project.
Installation of all types of electrical Primary plant such as circuit breakers, power and instrument transformers, disconnectors, busbars and structures; also relay and control panels, battery systems, earthing systems and multi-core cables. All of this can be co-ordinated by PTS site supervisors with all aspects of CDM undertaken with our site managers.
PTS have a team that can deliver; authorised in mewp operations, slinger/banksman, working at heights, or within confined spaces we have the right accreditations and authorisations no matter what the requirements are. |

| COMMISSIONING |

As the installation work on site is completed, the whole system is required to be comprehensively tested and commissioned onto the electrical network. With a team of highly competent commissioning engineers, many of whom are authorised to the National Grid standard, TP141, PTS can deliver the complete scheme. No matter how complex the network or protection system is PTS have the ability to deliver. GIS and AIS new build projects, plant replacement and reinforcement, network rail connections and Nicap protection and control changes; the PTS commissioning team will carry out all testing requirements accordingly.
As part of the commissioning services, PTS can also provide resource to undertake the commissioning officer and commissioning panel chairman roles as defined under the National Grid TP141 authorisation. |

| SAP OPERATIONS |
|
|
When undertaking the final commissioning of a new site, or when working on an existing part of the network, this requires co-ordination of the safety aspects associated with the electrical system. This work is carried out by senior authorised persons (SAP’s); PTS can provide SAP’s for most of the largest UK DNO’s, including EDF Energy, United Utilities, CE Electric and Central Networks. We can also provide authorised people to co-ordinate works at the 132kV interfaces between National Grid and the respective DNO.
From undertaking the initial network analysis and agreeing the switching programme with the relevant control centre, to isolating and earthing the system to allow safety documents to be issued, and finally carrying out the return to service, PTS can provide this as a service to clients requiring the resource as well as managing our own projects. |
